MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS
Hurt in a motorcycle crash? Here's how your care gets paid
Florida's no-fault PIP coverage doesn't apply to motorcycles, so riders take a different path to get treatment paid for. You can still be seen quickly, often the same day. If you're seriously hurt, go to the emergency room first.
Why PIP doesn't cover riders
Florida requires PIP on cars and other vehicles with four or more wheels. Motorcycles fall outside that definition, so riders don't carry PIP on their bikes, and the PIP on a car you own generally won't cover you while you're riding.
Ways riders pay for care
- Health insurance. We accept most plans.
- MedPay. If your motorcycle policy includes medical payments coverage, it can help pay for treatment.
- Letter of protection. If you're working with an injury attorney, we accept letters of protection, so your care can be paid from your case settlement.
Not sure which applies to you? Call or text us and we'll walk you through it.
Don't wait to get checked
Neck and back strains, shoulder and knee injuries, and wrist injuries from catching yourself are common after a motorcycle crash, and they're easier to treat early. A prompt evaluation also documents your injuries from the start.
