PEDESTRIAN & BICYCLE ACCIDENTS
Hit by a car while walking or biking?
In Florida, people hit by a car while on foot or on a bicycle can often use PIP, the same no-fault coverage drivers use. The 14-day deadline applies to you too. If you're seriously hurt, go to the emergency room first.
Whose PIP pays
- Your own. If you own a car, your PIP covers you even though you weren't in it.
- A relative you live with. If you don't own a car, PIP from a relative in your household may cover you.
- The car that hit you. If neither applies and you're a Florida resident, the PIP on the vehicle that hit you may pay.
When you call, we'll help you work out which policy to bill.
The 14-day clock
Florida PIP pays only if your first medical visit happens within 14 days of the accident. Pain from a fall onto pavement often gets worse over the next few days, so get evaluated early. How the 14-day rule works.
Common injuries we treat
- Knee, hip and shoulder injuries
- Neck and back strains
- Wrist and hand injuries from the fall
- Headaches after the impact
No PIP available?
We also accept most health insurance and letters of protection from your attorney. You don't need a lawyer to be seen.
